Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!
Is it possible that there could be just one week to thank all of our volunteers for the work they do every single day?
While sitting at my desk this morning, I thought about how Volunteer Appreciation Week came upon us right after the previous week, that has stretched us so very thin across the nation. Right now, as you are reading this, our tireless staff and volunteers are on the ground working to help families and individuals who need it most. No matter when you would read this, or if you read it again later (maybe?) the same would hold true. We are one Red Cross Family and the work our volunteers do could never be recognized in one week’s time.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. They make up 94 percent of our workforce. This week marks a special time that we reflect and thank them for all that they do. This week is also a reminder that we should be recognizing volunteers all year long…every single day.
So on this day, this week, EVERY DAY and EVERY WEEK I want to say THANK YOU. THANK YOU to the volunteers who help us do what we do and who are making an impact in this world bigger than I or others can imagine. THANK YOU for making our Red Cross family one that is unshakable, determined and tireless – and one that I am so very proud to call my own.
